RECONSTRUCTION OF A BUILDING IN PIRAEUS
2011-2013
PUBLICATION: ΔΟΜΕΣ 2015
PLOT AREA: 171,67 m²
TOTAL AREA: 390 m²
The two-floor building of 1968 was reorganized, resulting in two floors and three ground floor apartments.
The broader objective was to reconstruct its shell, in order to meet the new requirements of the direct relationship between the interior of the residence and the public space – the street.
A grid was designed as a second skin to the building, giving privacy to the ground floor apartments and the narrow balconies, and allowing for the possibility of hanging sunshades for the western sun.
The morphological identity of the building was sought at the limits of the contrasting relationship between public and private and traditional and contemporary.
